CIF Champion Samantha Shelton Gives Verbal Commitment to Harvard

NEW COMMIT: Samantha Shelton, reigning CIF and Winter JR nationals champion in the 200 scy free has verbally committed to Harvard.

Shelton swims year-round for the Mission Viejo Nadadores and is an honors student at Santa Margarita Catholic High School, being named to the USA swimming scholastic All American team for two straight years.. Shelton anchored two record setting relays at the CIF – SS Division 1 finals in May, leading her team to a Division 1 champ 4-peat.

She anchored her team record on the 4×100 free relay with a 48.71 split, setting a new National Independent High School Record. She also anchored a blistering 22.07 on the 4×50 free relay, setting a new CIF-SS Division 1 record.

Shelton was part of the 2015 World Junior team at Singapore and also was named the OC Register Female swimmer of the year for two years in a row, 2016 and 2017, as well as being named Team captain at Santa Margarita High School.

Her top times are as follows:
500 free scy – 4:45.26
200 free scy – 1:44.95
100 free scy – 49.11
50 free scy – 22.87
100 back scy- 53.04
100 fly scy – 53.72
