Chinese National Championships: Zhang Lin Clocks Chinese Record in 200 Free
SHAOXING, China, April 8. ZHANG Lin continued his strong outing at the Chinese National Long Course Championships held in Shaoxing, China with another Chinese record.
In the men's 200 free, Zhang clocked a time of 1:45.83 to break the Chinese record and become the first man from China under 1:46. The swim broke his previous standard of 1:46.13 set at the Beijing Olympics, but is well behind Tae Hwan Park's Asian record of 1:44.85 from the same competition.
"Right now, I'm training at a steady level, but as the Rome World Championships approach, I will focus more on the races where I will have the best chance to win a world title," Zhang said to Chinese Swimming officials in a rough translation.
In the women's 100 back, Zhao Jing posted a time of 59.62, just missing her Chinese record of 59.56 set at the Beijing Olympics.
Meanwhile, Qi Hui posted a time of 1:06.85 in the women's 100 breast, just missing Luo Xuejuan's Chinese record of 1:06.64 set at the Athens Olympics. Cheng Feiyi wrapped up the men's 100 back title in 54.99.
