China Reigns at Canada Diving Cup

MONTREAL, Canada, May 6. CHINA reigned at the 2007 Canada Cup held in Montreal, Canada this weekend. On the final day of competition, China earned three out of the four available gold medals. Canada's Alexandre Despatie, meanwhile, nabbed another gold.

China's duo of Liang Huo and Lin Yue snared the men's platform synchro event with 437.58 points, while Americans David Boudia and Thomas Finchum snared silver with 398.64 points. Cuba's Erick Fornaris and Jose Antonio Guerra closed out the podium with 391.56 points.

In the women's three-meter synchro, China reigned again as Li Ting and He Zi won gold with 315.30 points. Canada's Jennifer Abel and Meaghan Benfeito pocketed silver with 290.10 points, while Australia's Sharleen Stratton and Briony Cole took bronze with 283.92 points.

Despatie continued a great meet with a win in the three-meter when he posted 536.70 points. China's Luo Yutong picked up silver with 499.05 points, while American Chris Colwill claimed bronze with 447.30 points.

In the final event of the meet, China's Chen Ruo Lin (415.55) and Wang Xin (410.25) swept the top two spots in the women's platform event. Australia's Melissa Wu snagged bronze with 367.05 points.
