Chesapeake Elite Pro-Am: Distance Events Highlight First Night

OKLAHOMA CITY, Oklahoma, December 18. THE first night of swimming witnessed primarily distance freestyle events on the center stage at the Chesapeake Elite Pro-Am short course yards meet held in Oklahoma City, Okla.

Oshkosh YMCA's Siri Smits, Rachel Revolinski, Abbey Tuchscherer and Natalie Bolin opened the evening with a victory in the women's 200 medley relay with a time of 1:49.28. Homestanding Chesapeake's foursome of Chelsea Ye, Kathryn Zebrowski, Lizzy Whitbeck and Jill Enge finished second in 1:50.05.

Dallas Mustangs Jonathon Berrettini, Matt Thompson, Greg Hoffman and Jake Brown grabbed the men's 200 medley relay crown in 1:34.47, while Mission Viejo's Brock Redondo, Jon Daniec, Charlie Rimkus and Kane Radford placing second in 1:38.54.

Open water Olympian Chloe Sutton of Mission Viejo dominated the women's 1000 freestyle with a time of 9:33.11, while Brittany Massengale of Rice took second in 9:46.87.

Sutton's Mission Viejo brethren did well for themselves in the men's 1000 freestyle as the Nadadores went 1-2-3-4 in the distance event. Rimkus took the title in 9:07.52, while Redondo finished second in 9:11.60. Deni Cullom (9:12.63) and Jon Daniec (9:14.72) completed the top four sweep.

FAST's Julie Anderson, Kristi Dena, Shannon Dwyer and Jessica Schauwecker claimed the women's 800 free relay title in 7:29.76, while Mission Viejo's Sutton, Amanda Maffris, Tyla Willment and Carly Colin took second in 7:38.19. Sutton provided a quick 1:48.28 to leadoff Mission's relay.

Dallas Mustangs Thompson, Caleb Veazey, Andrew Tran and Scott Weeks topped the men's 800 free relay in 6:47.60 with Mission Viejo's Radford, Rimkus, Brady Mosk and Daniec touching second in 6:51.75.
