Cason Wilburn Verbally Commits to the University of Notre Dame

Cason Wilburn has verbally committed to swim for the University of Notre Dame as a member of the Class of 2023.

Wilburn, a native of Virginia Beach, Virginia, is currently a junior in the Law Academy at First Colonial High School and is currently running to be valedictorian of his class. As a member of his high school team, Wilburn has earned recognition as a USA Swimming All-American and a NISCA All-American.

The 2018 VHSL Class 6A State Swimming and Diving Championships saw Wilburn collect wins in both the 50 (20.57) and 100 (44.86) free.

Wilburn told Swimming World,

I am honored to announce my commitment to the University of Notre Dame. I loved the team atmosphere and feel that it is the best fit for me both academically and athletically. I look forward to spending the next phase of my swimming and academic career with the Irish family.

Wilburn swims on the East Coast Aquatic Team and has competed at the 2017 Winter Juniors East and the 2017 Summer Junior National Championships.

His best SCY times include:

  • 50 Free – 20.42
  • 100 Free – 44.22
  • 200 Free – 1:37.22
  • 100 Fly – 48.19
  • 200 Fly – 1:49.67
  • 200 IM – 1:49.13
  • 400 IM – 3:57.46
