Carson Foster Downs Own U.S. National Age Group Record in Prelims

OXFORD, Ohio, July 21. A day after leading the Cincinnati Marlins to a U.S. National Age Group record in relay action, Carson Foster, 10, shot down his own U.S. National Age Group record during prelims of the Ohio Long Course Junior Olympics.

Foster raced to a time of 30.18 in the boys 10-and-under 50-meter fly this morning. That swim undercut his previous record-setting time of 30.26 set at the Cincinnati Marlins Time Trial/Championship Qualifier earlier this month.

That swim had bested the U.S. National Age Group record of 30.55 posted by Mujahid El-Amin in 1996. The Marlins are looking for a sub-30 second time from Foster this evening, to become the youngest person to break that barrier.
