Caroline Theil Wins Three Events to Lead Texas A&M Past SMU

Caroline Theil picked up three individual wins at No. 13 Texas A&M women’s swimming beat SMU, 172-125, on Thursday.

Theil teamed with Kara Eisenmann, Alaya Smith and Chloe Stepanek to start with a win in the 200 medley relay. She then went on to win the 200 freestyle, 200 backstroke and 200 individual medley.

Stepanek claimed the 100 back and 500 free. Jing Wen Quah was victorious in the 1,000 free, and Taylor Pike helped the Aggies close out the meet strong by winning the 100 fly.

Desirae Mangaoang and Kylie Powers tied for the top spot in the 100 breast.

A&M also got a big boost from diving, with Aimee Wilson sweeping both events in 1-2-3 finishes, Charlye Campbell checking in with a second and a third.

SMU’s Alex Stevens won a pair of events, posting the top time in both the 50 and 100 frees. She joined Johanna Gudmundsdottir, Indra Vandebussche and Sam Smith in winning the concluding 200 free relay.

Jenna Watson (200 breast) and Olivia Grossklaus (200 fly) added wins for the Mustangs.
