Carmel Coach Chris Plumb Discusses Program Success on ISCA Podcast

In the latest episode of the International Swim Coaches Association’s Lane One: Make Waves Podcast, Carmel Swim Club (Ind.) coach Chris Plumb discusses what it takes to build a quality program, and maintain success. During his time at Carmel, Plumb has routinely produced elite-level swimmers, including Olympians, Team USA contributors and Junior National Team members. The culture he has molded is a defining characteristic of the Carmel program.

Plumb was a Team USA coach at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, thanks to three athletes qualifying, and his Carmel High School squad won its 40th consecutive state title in girls’ action last February. In his interview with ISCA, Plumb goes into detail about what it takes to get buy-in from his athletes, the structure of his program and how he ensures long-term success.

Plumb joined the Carmel program as a part-time age-group coach in 2003, and was named as the head coach of Carmel Swim Club and Carmel High in 2006. Under his direction, Carmel has routinely been named a USA Swimming Gold Member Club.
