Canadian Summer Open Championships: Day Two in the Books

POINTE-CLAIRE, Canada, July 22. THE second evening of long course meter racing is in the books at the Canadian Summer Open Championships.

Sandrine Mainville grabbed the women's 100 free title in 55.61, while Jennifer Beckberger took second in 55.80. Caroline Lapierre-Lemire earned third in 56.41. Richard Hortness followed with a 50.38 to win the men's 100 free. Medhy Metella (50.47) and Romain Magula (50.56) completed the podium.

Tera Van Beilen topped the women's 100 breast in 1:08.92, while Kierra Smith touched second in 1:09.40. Ashley McGregor rounded out the top three in 1:09.46. Giacomo Perez Dortona touched out Warren Barnes, 1:01.73 to 1:01.99, in the men's 100 breast. Richard Funk wound up third in 1:02.61.

Karyn Jewell claimed the women's 400 IM in 4:47.46. Hanna Pierse placed second in 4:48.17, while Melanie Dodds took third in 4:48.73. Jordan Hartney cruised to the men's 400 IM crown in 4:18.40, while Alec Page placed second in 4:23.18 and Matthew Kwatyra earned third in 4:25.45.

Rachel Goh stopped the clock in 28.80 for the women's 50 back title. Paige Miller earned second in 28.92, while Tess Simpson picked up third in 29.26. Dorian Gandin posted a 25.96 to win the men's 50 back. Jake Tapp (26.15) and Charlie Tapp (26.48) finished second and third, respectively.
