Canadian Short Course Championships: Canada’s Countrywide Competition Comes to Close

LONDON, Ontario & KAMLOOPS, British Columbia, Canada, February 20. THE East and West racing at the Canadian Short Course Championships has come to a close with several top times being posted throughout the country.

Eastern Championships
Jacqueline Keire won the women's 200 free in 1:58.63, while Lindsay Charles touched second in 2:00.57. Susana Escobar finished third in 2:01.00. Zach Fedak claimed the men's 200 free title in a touch-out win over Cam Cummings, 1:50.79 to 1:50.86. Austin Rockett wound up third in 1:52.12.

Ashley McGregor captured the women's 100 breast in 1:08.71. Jasmine Rivest (1:09.51) and Erin Stamp (1:01.02) took second and third. Marco Monaco snatched the men's 100 breast in 1:02.85. Hugues Patry (1:03.13) and Jeff Sudbury (1:03.93) earned second and third.

Sinead Russell dominated the women's 200 IM in 2:14.18, while Kylie Weber took second in 2:17.55. Allie Duff wound up third in 2:18.36. Matt Kwatyra took home the men's 200 IM title in 2:02.48. Lyam Dias (2:04.46) and Daniel Jensen (2:05.71) completed the top three.

Marie Couillard touched out Cynthia Pammett, 28.61 to 28.62, in the women's 50 back. Vanessa Charron finished third in 28.68. Graham Hawes earned the men's 50 back win in 25.51. Cummings took his second podium of the night with a second-place 26.15, while Mitchell Warnica touched third in 26.77.

Katerine Savard cruised to victory in the women's 100 fly with a 58.75. Gabrielle Soucisse placed second in 1:00.48, while Paulina Bond finished third in 1:01.00. Lei Bi topped the men's 100 fly in 53.77 with Chris Bezeau (54.14) and Kourosh Ahani (54.44) taking second and third.

Susana Escobar won the women's 800 free in 8:33.30, while Zsofi Balazs touched second in 8:35.58. Bridget Coley wound up third in 8:35.70. Luis Escobar claimed the men's 1500 free in 15:20.87. Antoine David (15:33.81) and Chris Reith (15:50.53) picked up second and third.

Western Championships
Lindsay Delmar claimed the women's 200 free title in 1:59.31, while Emma Sproule touched second in 2:00.20. Jessica Plant wound up third in 2:00.23. Keegan Zanatta touched out Tom Krywitsky, 1:50.47 to 1:50.94, in the men's 200 free. Alec Page touched third in 1:51.38.

Tiann Rissling cruised in the women's 100 breast with a winning 1:07.27. Rachel Nicol took second in 1:09.35, while Patricia Pierse placed third in 1:09.66. Mike Brown snatched the men's 100 breast in 1:01.46. Braeden Taylor (1:02.28) and Chris Tobin (1:03.03) completed the top three.

Katie Caldwell finished first in the women's 200 IM with a 2:12.86. Chantal Vanlandeghem took second with a 2:14.45, while Rissling placed third for her second podium of the night with a 2:15.61. Chad Bobrosky turned in a 2:03.44 to win the men's 200 IM. Thomas Jobin (2:04.14) and Brown (2:04.75) rounded out the podium.

Vanlandeghem added yet another title to her strong meet with a 28.34 for the women's 50 back win. Samantha Corea took second in 28.35, while Brooklyn Snodgrass placed third in 28.65. Michael Lowenstein snagged the men's 50 back crown in 25.42. Shane Downey and Tiha Konyves tied for second with matching 26.50s.

Corea returned in the women's 100 fly with a winning 59.91. Vanlandeghem placed second in 1:00.51, while Devon Bibault placed third in 1:01.53. Page snagged the men's 100 fly title in 56.70, while Ciar McDonnell took second in 56.72. Anthony Moshynskyy placed third in 56.95.

Sproule claimed the women's 800 free in 8:42.75, while Sherry Liu finished second in 8:46.16. Breanne Siwicki made up the rest of the podium with a third-place 8:48.09. Sean Penhale captured the men's 1500 free in 15:21.77, while Zanatta placed second in 15:31.62. Kevin Nelson placed third in 15:50.98.
