Canadian Olympian Tera Van Beilen Leaves Oakville Aquatic Club For UBC Dolphins

PHOENIX, Arizona, November 12. SWIMMING World has received word that 2012 Canadian Olympian and current National Team member Tera Van Beilen will now represent the University of British Columbia Dolphins for Canadian national events.

Van Beilen previously competed for the Oakville Aquatic Club in her hometown of Oakville, Ontario, and is in her third year of studying kinesiology at the University of British Columbia. She currently competes for the UBC Thunderbirds’ intercollegiate team, and will now have one training base in British Columbia.

Van Beilen finished in a tie for eighth in the semifinals of the women’s 100m breaststroke at the 2012 Olympics, and later lost in a swim-off to Jamaica’s Alia Atkinson for the final spot. She also placed 21st in London in the 200m breaststroke, and swam the breaststroke leg on Canada’s 12th-place 400m medley relay team.
