Canadian Interuniversity Championships: Plenty More Canadian Standards Downed On Final Night

VANCOUVER, Canada, February 21. DURING the last night of short course meter swimming at the Canadian Interuniversity Championships held in Vancouver, several more national records took a tumble.

Scott Dickens clocked a time of 27.53 to clip the 27.57 record set by Morgan Knabe in the men's 50 breast in 1999. Katy Murdoch followed in the women's 200 back with a time of 2:06.81. That readout wiped out the national standard of 2:07.05 set by Elizabeth Wycliffe in 2007.

The next event, Colin Russell snatched the men's 100 free record with a time of 47.23. That swim eclipsed the 47.47 set by Brent Hayden back in 2006. Meanwhile, Erica Morningstar blasted a 2:09.12 in the women's 200 IM to best the 2:09.95 she set a week ago.

The women's 400 medley relay national record fell when Murdoch (59.18), Morningstar (1:07.97), Orlagh O'Kelly (1:02.02) and Seanna Mitchell (55.03) completed a 4:04.20. That effort beat the 4:04.95 set last year.

Callum Ng (52.84), Dickens (58.80), Rory Biskupski (52.96) and Tommy Gossland (48.44) put together a 3:33.04 to break the men's 400 medley relay record. The standard previously stood since 1992 with a 3:34.86.
