Aysia Leckie has verbally committed to the University of Denver. She is from Georgetown, Ontario and swims for Oakville Aquatic Club.
She joins a Denver Class of 2021 that includes Emily Vandenberg and Ally Yancy. Vandenberg is also from Canada, though she and Yancy are breaststrokers. Leckie brings her freestyle talents to Denver.
Leckie shared,
“I loved the atmosphere at the University of Denver. The coaches and team made me feel welcome and at home. I am very excited to begin my college career in such a positive challenging environment. Go Pioneers!”
Her best times are (LCM/SCY converted):
- 50 Free 26.72/ 23.54
- 100 Free 58.30/ 51.53
- 200 Free 2:06.84/ 1:52.12
Her best 50 and 100 times are quite recent, swum at Ontario Summer LC Provincial Championships at the end of June. Her 200 free best was done at Canadian Olympic Trials in April.
Denver won last year’s Summer League Championships and Leckie would have been a piece of that success. Her converted 50 and 200 freestyle times would make her an A finalist while her 200 time would put her at the top of the B final.
