Canada Cup: Ryan Cochrane, Zack Chetrat Set Meet Record in Final Night

TORONTO, Canada, November 29. THE last night of short course meter swimming at the Canada Cup held in Toronto produced a pair of meet records.

Ryan Cochrane took down the meet record in the men's 1500 free with a winning time of 14:59.81. That performance smashed his 2006 standard of 15:11.67. Zack Chetrat checked in with a meet record of his own with a 1:57.60 in the men's 200 fly. That effort clipped Stefan Hirniak's 2008 mark of 1:57.63.

Alex Komarnycky claimed the women's 800 free title in 8:36.13, while Erica Morningstar topped the women's 100 IM in 1:01.28. Brian Johns raced to victory in the men's 100 IM in 55.18.

Audrey Lacroix cruised to the win in the women's 200 fly with a 2:07.37. Amanda Reason touched first in the women's 50 breast with a 30.89, while Warren Barnes captured the men's 50 breast in 28.29.

Katy Murdoch snatched the women's 100 back title in 1:00.30, while Matt Hawes grabbed the men's 100 back crown in 54.12, touching out Kelly Aspinall (54.28). Alexandra Gabor took home the women's 200 free title in 1:57.27, while Brent Hayden hit the wall in 1:45.35 for the men's 200 free victory.

In relay action, Murdoch, Morningstar, Lindsay Delmar and Seanna Mitchell won the women's 400 medley relay in 4:05.30, while Johns, Zach Somjen, Aspinall and Hayden captured the men's 400 medley relay title in 3:39.88.
