Calvin Invite: Day Three

GRAND RAPIDS, Michigan, December 7. THE Calvin men's and women's swimming and diving teams concluded competition at their own Calvin Winter Invitational on Saturday night with the Calvin men placing third in a field of seven teams with 379 points while the Calvin women took fourth in a field of 11 teams with 456 points.

Top eight finishes for the Calvin men included:

*Freshman Kyle Garringer placing seventh in the 200 backstroke (1:59.60)

*Freshman Mark Rushlow placing fourth in the 100 freestyle (47.53)

*Calvin's 400 freestyle relay team of Rushlow, Ross Battoclette, Jon Herrema and Kurt Van Allsburg placing seventh (3:15.61)

*Calvin's 200 medley relay of Tyler Westman, Stephen Kraft, Rushlow and Van Allsburg placing eighth (1:40.66).

Top eight finishes for the Calvin women included:

*Calvin's 200 medley relay team of Monica Bressler, Emily Roberts, Kristen Kinzer and Maggie Vail placing seventh (1:50.53)

*Stephanie Fox finishing eighth in the 500 freestyle (5:24.02)

*Elizabeth Counsell finishing fifth in the 200 breaststroke with an NCAA III B' cut qualifying time of 2:25.90

*Casey Herman placing third on the one-meter diving board with an NCAA III qualifying score of 402.95 and Samantha Klaasen finishing sixth (374.10)
