Caeleb Dressel, Gunnar Bentz, and Ella Eastin Set to Star at Junior Nationals

GREENSBORO, North Carolina, December 11. THE Short Course Junior Nationals get underway on Thursday, and already a stockpile of talent has travelled from all parts of the United States to frigid Greensboro to prepare for the three day meet. Among those expected to star at the event include Caeleb Dressel, Gunnar Bentz, and Ella Eastin, all of whom played starring roles at the summer’s version of Junior Nationals. Dressel looks to put up fast times in the men’s sprint events, while Bentz could challenge for titles in the IMs and breaststrokes, and Eastin looks to build on her IM times that, in long course, rival some of the top marks in the country.

Swimming World correspondent David Rieder will be on deck at the Greensboro Aquatic Center beginning with Thursday morning prelims, and he previewed the meet in the video linked below. Rieder discusses some of the top names to keep an eye out for over the course of the weekend and why some of the bigger names on deck may be skipping on their primary events. Others to watch not mentioned in the video include Clara Smiddy, a Michigan commit who won the 100 back at Long Course Juniors in 1:00.51 and finished second in the 200 back.

Rieder will provide blogs and videos, including previews, recaps, and athlete interviews, throughout the meet for Swimming World. Check out our full coverage from Greensboro on the Event Landing Page for Junior Nationals.
