Butterflyer Tony Min Announces Commitment to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute
NEW COMMIT: Exeter, New Hampshire native Tony Min has announced his commitment to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) beginning in the fall of 2019.
Min, who does his club swimming with Phoenix Swimming, most recently competed at the New England Age Group Championships where his highest finish was a fifth-place showing in the 200 fly with five additional top-15 finishes. He placed 13th in the 200 fly at New England Seniors in December and swam the lead-off leg of Phoenix’s 4x100m free relay at Richmond Futures this past summer. Also competing for Exeter High School, Min is a seven-time New Hampshire State Championship finalist.
He told Swimming World:
“I’m extremely excited to announce that I will be continuing my academic and athletic career at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. With RPI’s rigorous academics and strong swim team, I knew it was a perfect fit for me and I cannot wait to see what the future holds. Go Engineers!”
His best times include:
- 100 fly – 51.24
- 200 fly – 1:52.88
- 50 free – 22.36
- 100 free – 48.12
When he suits up for the Engineers at the start of the 2019-20 season, Min will make an immediate impact in their fly group. Both his best butterfly times would’ve scored in the A-final of the 2019 Liberty League Championships where RPI won the team title.
