Burlingame Aquatic Club’s Saya Ryan Selects Washington University in St. Louis
NEW COMMIT: Washington University in St. Louis has recently picked up a new addition to their Class of 2025 from breaststroker Saya Ryan of San Carlos, Calif.
She told Swimming World:
“I am thrilled to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at Washington University in St. Louis! A huge thank you to Coach Ben, my teammates, friends, and family for their unwavering support. I am so grateful for this opportunity and can’t wait for my next 4 years as a WashU Bear!”
Ryan, who trains year-round with Burlingame Aquatic Club, recorded a pair of best times at the Juan Arlington Senior Meet back in March where she placed seventh in both breaststroke events. In Summer 2019, she raced to eighth place in the 100m breast at Far Westerns before going on to compete at Mount Hood Futures.

Her best times include:
- 100 breast – 1:08.56
- 200 breast – 2:26.90
Also competing for Crystal Springs Uplands High School, Ryan raced the 100 breast at the CIF Central Coast Section Championships during her freshman and sophomore seasons.
Ryan will add valuable depth both individually and on medley relays when she arrives on campus in the fall of 2021. She is just shy of B-final scoring range at the 2020 University Athletic Association Championships where the Bears finished fifth overall in the team standings.
