JACKSONVILLE, Florida, September 18. FOR the second year, Nation’s Capital Swim Club coach Bruce Gemmell won the Coach of the Year Award from the American Swim Coaches Association. Gemmell was present last week at the awards banquet to accept the honor.

Watch Gemmell’s moving acceptance speech in this exclusive video below, in which he thanks his entire coaching staff at Nation’s Capital. He ends by singling out two swimmers who were instrumental in helping him win the award. His son, Andrew, won the 10K Pan Pacific championship title after the race was postponed and relocated halfway across the Pacific Ocean. And Katie Ledecky’s five world records from June through August were a highlight, but Gemmell is quick to note her generous personality outside the pool as well.

Stay tuned for more exclusive videos from the ASCA awards banquet!
