Brooklynn Snodgrass, Kierra Smith Share Big Ten Female Swimmer of the Week Honor

ROSEMONT – Though they compete under the Canadian flag outside the collegiate season, Brooklynn Snodgrass and Kierra Smith race for Big Ten rivals Indiana and Minnesota, respectively. As the two teams approach the Big Ten Conference championship later this month, Snodgrass and Smith put up impressive times in their final dual meets of the season to share the honor of being named the Big Ten Female Swimmers of the Week.

Ohio State’s Josh Fleagle was picked as the conference’s Male Swimmer of the Week, while Steele Johnson was named the Male Diver and Freshman of the Week for the second-straight time.

Brooklynn Snodgrass, Indiana
• Collected three first-place finishes and a second place touch in No. 13 Indiana’s dual meet win over No. 18 Louisville
• Recorded first-place finishes in the 100 backstroke (53.44), 200 backstroke (1:54.10) and 400 freestyle relay (3:21.98), and added a second-place tally in the 50 freestyle (23.31)
• Posted two NCAA provisional qualifying times in the 100 and 200 backstroke events
• Earns her ninth career Swimmer of the Week award

• Secured four first-place finishes in No. 19 Minnesota’s triple dual against No. 16 Purdue and Northwestern

• Collected NCAA provisional qualifying marks in the 100 and 200 breaststroke events
• Earns her seventh career Swimmer of the Week award

• Collected a combined seven first-place finishes in No. 12 Ohio State’s victories over West Virginia, No. 4 Louisville and No. 9 Indiana
• Finished first in the 200 freestyle (1:37.74), 400 medley relay (3:15.61) and 200 freestyle relay (1:21.28) against West Virginia
• Finished first in the 50 freestyle (20.08), 100 freestyle (44.24), 200 medley relay (1:27.98) and 400 freestyle relay (2:57.24) versus Indiana and Louisville
• Claimed NCAA provisional qualifying marks in the 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle and 200 freestyle
• Earns his second Swimmer of the Week honor

Big Ten Conference Female Freshman of the Week: Danielle Nack, Minnesota

• Earns her first Freshman of the Week award

Big Ten Conference Male Diver and Freshman of the Week: Steele Johnson, Purdue

• Collected two first-place finishes in platform and three-meter diving in Purdue’s triple dual against No. 23 Minnesota and Northwestern
• Scored 445.50 points on platform and 464.40 points in three-meter diving
• Tallied NCAA Zone Qualifying scores in both events
• Earns his sixth Diver of the Week honor
• Earns his sixth Freshman of the Week award
