British University Long Course Championships: Distance Free Completes First Night

SHEFFIELD, England, February 13. THE first night of competition at the British University Long Course Championships featured distance events.

World-record holder Rebecca Adlington captured the women's 800 free title going away with an 8:30.96. Louisa Farrer Fisher placed second in 8:43.40, while Aimee Willmott took third in 8:46.24. Hannah Miley wound up fourth in 8:47.57. Erin Jeffrey grabbed the women's 1500 free crown in 17:26.18. Danielle Francis finished second in 17:31.90, while Hazel Colbourne rounded out the top three in 17:39.83.

Jonathon Greig won the men's 800 free in 8:22.04, while James Gibson finished second in 8:22.48. Lawrence Lowman completed the podium with a third-place 8:31.79. William Jolly snatched the men's 1500 free title in 16:03.15. Mark McKenna took second in 16:05.98, while Lowman finished a tough double with a third-place 16:15.40.
