British Trials, Day 6 Finals: Angharad Evans Edges Kara Hanlon for 100m Breaststroke Title

Angharad Evans held off a late charge by Kara Hanlon to claim the 100m breaststroke title although she was outside the Paris cut.

Evans had tickled Molly Renshaw’s 2021 standard in prelims, where she clocked 1:06.27, 0.06 outside the national mark of 1:06.21 set in the semis of the European Championships in 2021.

The University of Stirling swimmer returned to the Aquatics Centre in the evening and reached halfway in 30.83 – 0.01 outside her prelim time – and a bid for the QT and British record was on.

However, a second 50 of 35.71 saw her touch in 1:06.54 – outside the 1:06.31 QT – with Hanlon next home in 1:06.60 and Imogen Clark third in 1:07.37.
