Brian Peresie Named Malone University Men’s and Women’s Swimming & Diving Head Coach

CANTON, Ohio, April 26. BRIAN Peresie has been named the new Malone University men's and women's swimming & diving head coach, the University's athletic director Charlie Grimes announced today. Peresie takes over for one-year coach Alex Keyser who resigned to take the head coach position at his alma mater Asbury (KY) University.

Peresie has served as an assistant swimming coach and recruiting coordinator for Ohio University for the past eight seasons. He helped lead the Bobcat women to the MAC championship this past season and to two MAC team titles in the last three seasons. In addition, the team's dual meet record during this three-year span was 29-7. Prior to his stint at Ohio, Peresie was a graduate assistant swim coach at Ashland University for two years.

A 2000 graduate of Ohio University (Business Administration), Peresie went on to earn a Master of Business Administration from Ashland University in 2004.

"We are excited to bring Brian onboard as our head coach," commented Grimes. "He has excellent NCAA competitive and coaching experience, as well as a deep commitment to using sport to develop leaders and people of excellent character. I'm looking forward to seeing him invest his talents and passion into our student-athletes."

Peresie is equally as excited about the new opportunity. "First and foremost I would like to thank Greg Werner for giving me the opportunity to compete and then coach at Ohio University," stated Peresie. "My experiences at Ohio, as well as at Ashland University, have had an immense impact on who I am in and out of the pool.

"I am very excited about the vision at Malone and am excited to see what God has in store for the swimming program. President Friesen, Dr. Abrams, and Charlie Grimes have a huge heart for developing this program. Additionally, the Malone community is extraordinary. Any student-athlete that chooses to be in this environment will undoubtedly succeed and in life after college. Taking the helm of a program that is only two years old is an amazing opportunity and I am eager to get started. "

Peresie and his wife, Emily (Berg), who is a 2001 Malone graduate, have two children, Brayden (4) and Blake (1).

Malone University, a Christian university for the arts, sciences, and professions in the liberal arts tradition, affiliated with the Evangelical Friends Church, awards both undergraduate and graduate degrees in more than 100 academic programs. Malone is recognized by the prestigious Templeton Foundation as a leader in character development, named an NAIA Champions of Character Five Star Award winner, and is ranked among the top colleges and universities in the Midwest under the category Regional Universities according to U.S.News & World Report's America's Best Colleges 2011.
