Breaststroker Camillia Samson Lends Commitment to Alaska Fairbanks

NEW COMMIT: The University of Alaska, Fairbanks has picked up a new commitment for the 2021-22 season and beyond from breaststroker Camillia Samson of Cypress, Texas.

She told Swimming World:

“I am excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my athletic and academic career at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. I am beyond grateful to everyone who has supported me, pushed me and believed in me. I cannot wait to see the new adventures and memories this next chapter will bring, go Nanooks!”

Samson does her club swimming with Swim Houston Aquatics Center and earned 100% best times at the HCAP Invitational in February 2019 after finaling in both breaststroke events at the Gulf Senior Championships. In Summer 2018, she finished fifth in the 200m breast and seventh in the 100m breast at the Gulf Summer Champs.

Her best times include:

  • 100 breast – 1:13.12
  • 200 breast – 2:39.14

Also competing for Cypress Ranch High School, Samson most recently competed at the UIL 6A Region 05 Championships where she placed 18th in the 100 breast.

Samson will add valuable depth both individually and on medley relays when she arrives on campus as a member of the Class of 2025. She will also add her talents to a breaststroke training group led by Whitney McArthur, Kaia Norbye and Caroline McCormick.
