NEW COMMIT: Campbell University has officially entered the 2022 recruiting game after picking up a verbal commitment from Futures qualifier Arabella “Bella” Butera of Red Lion, Pa.
She told Swimming World:
“I am very excited to announce my verbal commitment to attend and swim for Campbell University! The campus, close family feel of the team and the support I have received from the coaches throughout the recruiting process is amazing! I can’t wait to be a Camel! Roll Humps!”
A talented breaststroker, Butera does her club swimming with York YMCA and placed 15th in the 100 breast at the 18&U Spring Cup in Richmond where she earned best times in all of her events. She also earned three lifetime bests at the Virtual YMCA Swimming Festival in April.
In July 2019, she raced three events at YMCA LCM Nationals.
Her best times include:
- 50 breast – 30.58
- 100 breast – 1:03.99
- 200 breast – 2:19.68
- 200 IM – 2:08.18
- 400 IM – 4:35.37
A rising senior at Red Lion High School, Butera placed fifth in the 100 breast as a junior at the Pennsylvania 3A State Championships while taking 11th in that event during her sophomore season. She’s the school record holder in the 100 breast.
Butera will add valuable depth to the Camels’ lineup when she arrives on campus as a member of the Class of 2026. She’s already at CCSA Championship scoring level, too, as she would’ve placed in the B-final of the 100 breast, 200 breast, and 200 IM at last season’s conference meet.
