Brazilian Long Course Championships: Cesar Cielo, Fabiola Molina Post World-Ranked Times

RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil, April 20. THE first day of the Brazilian World Championships Trials produced a pair of world-ranked times.

Cesar Cielo moved up to a seventh-place tie in the men's 100 free rankings with a 48.66. Bruno Fratus claimed second in 49.40, while Nicholas Dos Santos picked up third in 49.59.

Fabiola Molina captured the women's 50 back title in 28.40, improving her 12th-ranked season best of 28.50 from January. Etiene Medeiros touched second in 29.27, while Natalia Diniz placed third in 29.97.

Guilherme Guido won the men's 50 back in 25.60, while Fabio Santi took second in 25.71. Daniel Orzechowski wound up third in 25.92. Tales Cerdeira snatched the men's 200 breast title in 2:13.35. Henrique Barbosa took second in 2:13.70, while Diego Santos placed third in 2:18.58.

Tatiana Barbosa grabbed the women's 100 free title in 54.95. Carolina Penteado and Daynara de Paula tied for second in the race with matching times of 56.59. Nadia Vieira topped the women's 200 breast in 2:35.95, while Thamy Ventorin earned second in 2:35.99. Tatiane Sakemi rounded out the top three in 2:37.48.

Joanna Maranhao turned in a 2:12.18 for the women's 200 fly title, while Sara Oliveira earned second in 2:12.96. Camila Zattar pocketed third in 2:23.60. Leonardo de Deus won the men's 200 fly in 1:59.56. Nuno Quintanilha finished second in 1:59.97, while Diogo Carvalho placed third in 2:00.27. Additionally, Daniel Catelan was the only recorded men's 800 free swimmer with an 8:44.64.
