Caio Pumputis has announced his commitment to Georgia Tech. He will sign to swim for head coach Courtney Hart and the Yellow Jackets beginning next fall.

I chose Georgia Tech because it offers me an excellent structure, this will help me to develop my talent in swimming and in academic. Choosing an university is very hard because it’s a decision for your whole life. The staff made me fell at home, I’m very happy with my choice and I can’t wait to follow my dreams with this big family.”

Pumputis should be a big boost to the GT freestyle, breaststroke and IM corps. He has never competed in short course yards, but his long course bests include a 1:50.44 in the 200 free, 1:03.81 in the 100 breast, 2:17.45 in the 200 breast, 2:03.67 in the 200 IM and 4:25.50 in the 400 IM. He competed in the breaststroke and IM events at the 2015 World Junior Championships in Singapore.

Pumputis’ strong times in short course meters suggest he will adjust well to the yards format of NCAA swimming: 50.88 in the 100 free, 1:46.50 in the 200 free, 2:08.68 in the 200 breast, 1:58.96 in the 200 IM and 4:16.68 in the 400 IM.
