Brazil Long Course Championships: Felipe Silva, Joao Gomes Jr. Post Fast Times in 50 Breast

RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil, April 23. THE Brazil World Championships Trials came to an end with a few more top 10 times going into the world rankings.

Felipe Silva touched out Joao Luiz Gomes Jr., 27.69 to 27.72, in the men's 50 breast. The swims moved Silva and Gomes Jr. to fourth and sixth in the world rankings. Cameron van der Burgh (27.24), Giacomo Perez Dortona (27.56), Brenton Rickard (27.60) and Lennart Stekelenburg (27.70) are the other top swimmers so far this year. Angelito Cassandra placed third in 28.73.

Bruno Fratus moved to eighth in the world rankings in the men's 50 free with a winning 22.10. Nicholas Dos Santos grabbed second in 22.29, while Alan Vitoria pocketed third in 22.89. Dos Santos jumped into the top 15 in the rankings with his swim.

Daynara De Paula clocked a 58.56 to win the women's 100 fly, and move into the top 20 in the world rankings. Gabriella Silva (59.12) and Sara Oliveira (59.84) completed the podium.

Cesar Cielo turned in a 53.07 to capture the men's 100 fly crown, and jump into the top 25 in the world rankings. Simao Morgado took second in 53.43, while Henrique Martins finished third in 53.50.

Ana Rodrigues won the women's 50 breast in 32.64, while Ana Carvalho took second in 32.92. Tatiane Sakemi earned third in 33.01. Flavia Delaroli-Cazziolato captured the women's 50 free in 25.65, while Graciele Hermann finished second in 25.81. Tatiana Barbosa wound up third in 25.95.

Leonardo De Deus claimed the men's 200 back title in 1:59.72, while Leonardo Alves Santos touched second in 2:01.05. Fabio Santi rounded out the top three in 2:03.50.

Joanna Maranhao won the women's 200 back in 2:16.96, while Camila Zattar was the lone swimmer in the women's 800 free with a 9:30.82. Lucas Kanieski beat Daniel Catelan, 15:22.47 to 16:37.25, in the men's 1500 free as the only two swimmers in the event.
