Brandonn Almeida Overhauls Taylor Abbott for 1500 Free Title at 2015 FINA World Junior Championships

Brazil’s Brandonn Almeida demonstrated some serious closing speed as he overhauled USA’s Taylor Abbott in the men’s 1500-meter free at the 2015 FINA World Junior Championships.

Almeida won the finale in a time of 15:15.88, while Abbott took second in 15:16.35 after leading for nearly the entire race.

Spain’s Cesar Castro edged China’s Qiu Ziao for third, 15:17.10 to 15:17.54.

Greece’s Dimitrios Negris (15:18.74), Australia’s Joshua Parrish (15:21.15), Hungary’s Kristof Rsovszky (15:24.91) and South Africa’s Matthew Meyer (15:25.76) closed out the top eight in the timed final event.
