Bragg, Cary Grab Big West Athlete Of The Week Honors

IRVINE, California, November 8. AFTER an impressive performance in the dual meet with California Ja-Neil Bragg earned her second Big West Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week honor for the 2006-07 season, while Gaucho Pat Cary nabbed his first accolade of the new season with a standout performance against UC San Diego.

Bragg posted first-place times in both the 200 free and 400 IM in the Tigers' meet in Berkeley, Calif. The Manteca, Calif., native swam the 200 free in a time of 1:49.78, while registering a 4:18.49 mark in the 400 IM. As a team, the Tigers fell to the Golden Bears, 83-162.

Hailing from Trabuco Canyon, Calif., Cary garnered three first-place crowns in the Gauchos' home meet against UC San Diego. In his signature stroke, the butterfly, he scored top times in the 100 fly (49.35) and 200 fly (1:57.77). He also posted the top mark in the 200 IM at 1:57.77. The UC Santa Barbara men's team claimed its second win of the season with a dominating score of 172-84.
