Bowling Green Tops Buffalo, 181-119

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio, January 21. – THE Bowling Green Swimming and Diving Falcons contributed eleven first place victories from sixteen events to a winning score of 181-119 to down the visiting Bulls of the University at Buffalo. In their last meet in Cooper Pool, Caroline Keating and Brit O'Conner combined for five top three finishes. Sophomore Alisha Yee was a perfect four-of-four with three solo and one relay win.

Keating, won the 200 free in 1:54.28 and blew away her competition with a win in the 500 free. Keating finished in 5:05.97 while Kahla Walkinshaw of UB did not touch the wall for her second place finish until 5:09.37. She also finished third in the 200 fly event (2:14.48). O'Conner's highest showing of the meet was a second in the 100 back (1:00.90) while also working towards a third place finish in the 200 back (2:08.91).

Yee took the win in the 100 back (59.03), the 200 back (2:06.09), and the 400 IM (4:35.20). She also propelled the Falcons to a victory in the 200 medley relay after swimming the first leg of the race. Freshmen Meg Richardson, Chelsea Lopus and Frankie Houck also contributed to the medley win.

Sophomore Sami Jordan paced the 100 free (53.50) event to cruise to her first victory of the season. Houck finished the 100 free just behind Jordan (54.19), but later went on to win the 50 free (24.72) for the second time this season. Both of Houck's wins came in Cooper Pool.

Veterans Kim Albin and Michael Carriaga won the 200 breast (2:26.29) and 100 fly (58.07), respectively.

The diving Falcons added to the win with four top three finishes. Jill Auer took the runner-up spot on the 3-meter board with her 235.72 score and also scored for BGSU with her third place finish on the 1-meter board (222.90). Ashley Belrose was the runner-up on the 1-meter board (261.98), while Sarah Parker placed third on the 3-meter board (228.60).

The score of 181-119 was the same score as last year's meeting between the squads.

The Falcons will have their last meet before the MAC Championship on January 26 when they travel to Miami.
