Boston University Terriers Collect Verbal Commitment from Futures Finalist Sydney Sorbello
NEW COMMIT: Glenmont, N.Y. native and current high school senior Sydney Sorbello has announced her verbal intention to continue her academic and swimming career at Boston University next fall.
A versatile swimmer, Sorbello does her club swimming with Delmar Dolfins and most recently placed 20th in the 200m back at Geneva Futures this past summer. Last winter, she was a six-time finalist at Ithaca Speedo Sectionals where her highest finish was a seventh-place showing in the 200 back en route to achieving a trio of lifetime bests.
Also competing for Bethlehem Central High School, Sorbello is a five-time New York Federation Championship finalist. She finished sixth in the 100 back and eighth in the 50 free as a junior after placing 12th in the former event as well as 21st in the 200 IM during her sophomore season.
She told Swimming World:
“I’m elated to announce my verbal commitment to Boston University! I can’t wait to be a part of such an amazing university and program!! Thank you to all of my coaches, family and friends for supporting me throughout my career! Go Terriers”
Her best times include:
- 50 free – 23.64
- 100 free – 51.90
- 100 back – 56.25
- 200 back – 2:02.21
- 200 breast – 2:22.37
- 200 IM – 2:04.84
- 400 IM – 4:29.33
Sorbello’s versatility will make an immediate impact when she suits up for the Terriers as a member of the class of 2024. Her best 50 free, 200 breast and 400 IM times would already rank in the top-3 of Boston’s lineup last season, and she still has one year of club swimming to go before arriving in Beantown.
