Boston University Picks Up Verbals from Texas’ Keilah Eckhart, Minnesota’s Ella Erickson

NEW COMMITS: Boston University has picked up a pair of verbal commitments for the 2021-22 season from Houston, Texas native Keilah Eckhart and Ella Erickson of St. Paul, Minn.

Both talented swimmers will join Summer Brainin and Fia McCarty as a member of the Terriers’ class of 2025.

She told Swimming World:

“Super excited to announce my commitment to study and swim at Boston University! Huge thanks to my family, friends, coaches and teammates for helping me the whole way. BU offers an amazing mixture of academic and athletic excellence that I was looking for. Can’t wait to join such an incredible community. Go Terriers! #rollterriers ?❤️”

Primarily a butterflyer, Eckhart swims with Cypress Fairbanks Swim Club and finaled in the 100m fly at College Station Sectionals in March after earning bronze in that event at Southern Seniors in December. She placed 17th in the 200m fly and 21st in the 100m fly at Des Moines Futures last summer as well.

Her best times include:

  • 50 fly – 25.87
  • 100 fly – 55.96
  • 200 fly – 2:05.33
  • 100 free – 52.06
  • 200 free – 1:53.56

Also competing for Cypress Creek High School, Eckhart finished 12th in the 100 fly at the Texas 6A State Championships during her sophomore season. She also finished third in the 100 fly and sixth in the 200 IM at the TAPPS Eastern Region Championships in 2019.

ELLA ERICKSON

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at Boston University! Thank you so much to my friends, family, and coaches who all helped me get to this point. I can’t wait to be apart of this amazing team! Go Terriers!”

A versatile swimmer, Erickson trains year-round with Edina Swim Club and finished 12th in both the 100 breast and 200 fly at Minnesota Seniors in March. She also raced six events at NCSAs in March 2019.

Her best times include:

  • 100 fly – 57.40
  • 200 fly – 2:06.89
  • 100 breast – 1:05.72
  • 200 breast – 2:22.63
  • 200 IM – 2:07.01
  • 400 IM – 4:27.88

Last summer, Erickson recorded five best times at Minneapolis Sectionals before going on to compete at NCSAs. She has also earned USA Swimming Scholastic All-American honors twice in her career thus far.
