Boston College Eagles Land Verbal from Junior National Qualifier Hannah Neilsen
NEW COMMIT: Boston College has scored a new verbal commitment for the 2021-22 season and beyond from Nashville, Tenn. native Hannah Neilsen.
She will arrive in Chestnut Hill as members of the Eagles’ class of 2025 along with Catherine Bradac, Megan Kramer, Olivia Howard, Liza Murtagh, Mary Kate Leonard and Samantha Smith.
She told Swimming World:
“I am so excited and grateful to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academics and swimming at Boston College. Thank you to my wonderful family and friends, those at @stceciliaacademy, and my coaches and teammates at @ensworthaquatics for making this possible! Can’t wait to be an Eagle! ️?”
A talented breaststroker, Neilsen owns two Junior National standards and last competed at the Southeastern Championships where she took fourth in the 200 breast and fifth in the 100 breast after winning the latter event at the Ensworth Holiday Classic. Last summer, she grabbed gold in the 100m breast at Southeastern LCM Championships before going on to final in that event at NCSAs.
She does her club swimming with Ensworth Aquatics.
Her best times include:
- 50 breast – 30.69
- 100 breast – 1:04.43
- 200 breast – 2:18.07
Also competing for Saint Cecilia Academy, Neilsen is a six-time TISCA State Championship finalist. The USA Swimming Scholastic All-American was the runner-up in the 100 breast and took 18th in the 200 IM as a junior while taking 10th in her signature event during her sophomore season.
Neilsen will make an immediate impact when she arrives on campus in the fall of 2021, as her 100 breast would’ve ranked second behind recent graduate Taylor Covington. Her fastest time in the 200 breast would’ve topped the Eagles’ lineup last season.
