Bolles School Sharks Continues Record-Setting Streak With National Age Group Mark

JACKSONVILLE, Florida, November 14. THREE days after a historic run at the Florida Division 1 high school state championships, the Bolles School Sharks kept the momentum going with a national age group record in the 200-yard medley relay on Tuesday.

The foursome of Dakota Mahaffey, James Daugherty, Gian Garcia and Tyler Rice teamed up to swim a 1:35.94 to break the 13-14 age group national record that was set earlier this year by the Premier Aquatic Club of Klein with a 1:38.24.

Splits:
Mahaffey (backstroke) — 24.57
Daugherty (breaststroke) — 26.70
Garcia (butterfly) — 23.15
Rice (freestyle) — 21.52

The race was swum during a sanctioned time trial meet, where several Bolles swimmers attempted to achieve national and junior national time standards.

Additionally, four of the swimmers who were part of the national high school record performances last weekend competed in off events, according to a post on head coach Sergio Lopez's blog. Ryan Murphy swam a 47.48 in the 100 butterfly and 3:52.69 in the 400 IM with about 10 minutes rest in between. Joseph Schooling put up a 20.61 in the 50 free, 49.03 in the 100 back and a 57.09 in the 100 breast. Josh Booth showed some endurance with a 4:32.28 in the 500 free and Santo Condorelli posted a 1:50.18 in the 200 IM and 56.90 in the 100 breast.
