Boise State picked up two verbal commitments for the class of 2021. The two newest broncos are already teammates. Hayley Hill and Emma Segneri both swim for Scottsdale Aquatic Club in Arizona. The two swimmers bring different sets of talents with them to Idaho. Segneri is more of a sprinter and butterfly specialist while Hill’s best events extend into distance freestyle.

Hayley Hill

Hill’s best times are:

  • 100 Free 53.32
  • 200 Free 1:51.64
  • 500 Free 4:54.52
  • 1000 Free 10:09.96

Hill attends Pinnacle High School. At the 2015 Arizona State High School Championships she finished fourth in the 200 and 500 freestyles. She was also on the school’s third place 200 and 400 freestyle relays.

At last season’s Mountain West Championship, Boise finished second by only 13 points. Hill would have been a 500 free B finalist and a 200 freestyle C finalist. She’ll join a mid-distance group led by Emma Chard who will be a senior in the 2017-2018 season.

Emma Segneri

“I chose Boise because of the incredible team atmosphere, amazing coaches, and awesome academic opportunities! I am so excited and blessed to join the Bronco family for the next four years!” she shared.

Her best times are:

  • 100 Fly 55.08
  • 200 Fly 2:05.10
  • 50 Free 23.94
  • 100 Free 52.34
  • 200 Free 1:55.86

Segneri attends Chaparral High School. She is a member of the Arizona High school state record setting 200 medley and 200 freestyle relay team. That group includes Canadian Olympic medalist Taylor Ruck. At last year’s high school state, the squad won the state title in the 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays. Individually, Segneri tied for third in the 50 freestyle and finished sixth in the 100 butterfly.

Last year, Segneri’s best times would have made her a 100 butterfly B finalist and 200 butterfly C finalist at the conference level.
