Bobby Guntoro Gets Two More For UNC Wilmington from Aidan Duffy, Jacob Duracinsky

NEW COMMITS: UNC Wilmington has picked up a pair of verbal commitments for the 2021-22 season and beyond from Henrico, Va. native Aidan Duffy and Jacob Duracinsky of Holly Springs, N.C.

Under newly-appointed head coach Bobby Guntoro, both talented swimmers will join the Seahawks’ class of 2025 along with Will Barker and Ethan Womble.

Regarding his commitment, he said:

“I chose UNC-Wilmington because of the excitement I felt on campus! The athletics, the academics, and the atmosphere is exactly what I’ve been looking for! Bobby Guntoro and this team have a bright future! And I wanted to be a part of that! Go Seahawks! ?”

Duffy, who does his club swimming with NOVA of Virginia Aquatics, was the runner-up in the 200 breast and 400 IM at Virginia Seniors in March where he also took third in the 100 breast. He raced to second in the 200m breast at Virginia LCM Seniors last summer before going on to earn four best times at Junior Nationals.

His best times include:

  • 200 free – 1:40.55
  • 500 free – 4:38.64
  • 100 breast – 56.83
  • 200 breast – 2:01.01
  • 200 IM – 1:50.61
  • 400 IM – 3:55.00

Also competing for Freeman High School, Duffy is a four-time Virginia Class 5 State Championship finalist. The two-time USA Swimming Scholastic All-American won the 100 breast and 200 IM as a junior while collecting gold and silver, respectively, in those events during his sophomore season.

Duracinsky swims year-round with Marlins of Raleigh and had a stellar showing at North Carolina Seniors in February where he placed sixth in the 200 IM, seventh in the 100 free, and 14th in the 100 back. At Cary Sectionals a few weeks later, he finaled in five events where his highest finish was an 11th-place showing in the 100m free.

His best times include:

  • 50 free – 21.41
  • 100 free – 46.38
  • 200 free – 1:40.74
  • 200 IM – 1:54.31

Last summer, he achieved five best times at North Carolina LCM Seniors. At the TAC Titans August Invitational last month, he notched a lifetime best in the 100 free.
