Bluefish Wins, Oludare Rose Takes Two at Buffalo Speedo Sectionals

Bluefish won the 2018 Speedo Sectionals Championship Series in Buffalo, NY with a total of 974 points, only four points ahead of runner-up Scarlet Aquatics (970). Third went to North Baltimore (910), followed by Berkeley (554) and Allegheny North (491).

North Baltimore’s Lauren Poole began the night with a win in the women’s 200 back, stopping the clock in 2:16.81. Her teammate Easop Lee posted a 2:18.11 for second followed by third-place finisher Jessica Pryne (2:18.36) of Nys.

Scarlet’s David Cespedes won the men’s 200 back in 2:03.99, followed by Bluefish’s Harrison Homans (2:04.43) and his teammate Lucas Stencel (2:08.51) took third.

North Baltimore’s Megan Drumm sprinted her way to a win in the women’s 100 free, getting her hand to the wall in 57.73. The Fish’s Grace Cutrell was second in 58.34 and Berkeley’s Sophia Kudryashova finished third in 59.07.

Scarlet’s Oludare Rose got the gold medal in the men’s 100 free with a time of 51.35. Solo’s Matthew Yish grabbed the silver in 51.68 and Bluefish’s River Wright earned the bronze in 52.51.

Islanders’ Makayla Sargent won the women’s 200 IM in 2:18.02, followed by Poole in 2:20.83 and Pryne in 2:20.91.

Not too long after his men’s 100 free win, Rose again touched the wall first in the men’s 200 IM with a time of 2:05.57. Islanders’ George Kalletta (2:09.31) and Bluefish’s William Hein (2:10.99) to conclude the individual events.

North Balitmore’s Poole (1:03.87), Samantha Ai (1:13.22), Lauren Waire (1:05.53) and Drumm (58.42) dominated the 4×100 medley relay in a time of 4:21.04. The Fish finished second in 4:28.85 and Islanders was third in 4:29.13.

Scarlet’s David Cespedes (57.94), Julian Chn (1:08.97), Rose (54.83) and Andres Orbe won the 4×100 medley relay in 3:55.54. Allegheny North was second in 3:55.72 and Bluefish was third in 3:57.59.
