Blue Devil Duals Conclude at Central Connecticut State

NEW BRITAIN, Connecticut, October 15. CENTRAL Connecticut completed the Blue Devil Duals this afternoon, opening its season with a 6-0 record at their home event. Juniors Kristen Jurzynski and Lindsey Snyder each won two individual events, while the team took home three firsts in relay events, including a pool record swim in the 800 Free Relay. Additionally, sophomore diver Kristen Rossi was victorious in the one-meter dive. The Blue Devils will be back in the pool next Saturday, Oct. 21, at Northeastern.

Central opened today's sessions with a second place finish in the 200 Medley Relay. Snyder and Jurzynski teamed with classmate Rachel Brookman and freshman Erin Crowley for a time of 1:54.78. Jurzynski followed the relay with a win in the 400 IM. The junior completed the swim in 4:40.84, defeating the field by just under five seconds.

The Blue Devils added to its relay wins with a victory in the 400 Free. Jurzynski, Brookman, Crowley and senior Joanna Bocer teamed for a 3:41.99 time and won by just under two seconds over Wagner.

Rossi, who won the one-meter dive event last night, took second in the three-meter dive with a score of 183.15. St. Francis (NY) diver Christina DeBianchi won with a 190.35. Freshman Liz Wahlberg third on the three-meter board following a second place finish on the one-meter.

Snyder won the first of her two individual titles following the diving session. The junior topped C.W. Post's Mariel Anderson in the 100 Back with a time of 58.92, 1.04 seconds off her own pool record.

In the next event, Bocer, who finished third in the 200 Free, took second in the 100 Free. Brookman followed suit with a second place effort in the 100 Fly.

Central ended the meet with wins, as Snyder took the 200 IM title and the team of Snyder, Brookman, Crowley and junior Gail Bonaldi won the 400 Medley Relay.

Yesterday, Central established the pool record in the 800 Free Relay (7:55.56), while Jurzynski won the 200 Back.
