The Big Ten Conference continues its swimming & diving season with a handful of meets this week.

There is not one headliner meet in the Big Ten this week, but there are several strong matchups that could lead to an interesting weekend.

Penn State and Ohio State will travel to Virginia Tech for a two-day meet on Friday and Saturday.

Ohio State is coming off of a strong meet. Last week, a two-day meet ended with a win for the No. 16 men against both No. 10 Texas A&M, 199-153 and No. 11 Louisville, 192-161 and did so without winning a single event on the second day until the 400 free relay.

The No. 17 Ohio State women’s team fell to the No. 5 Texas A&M women, 209-142. Louisville did not send a complete women’s team and was not included in the scoring on the women’s side.

“I’m proud of the team – swimming, diving, men and women competed tough all weekend. We had some great leadership from within the team. Outstanding effort,” Ohio State coach Bill Dorenkott said. “It’s so important when you get to the Big Ten and NCAA Championships. It’s a focal point for us. We’ve had some real breakthroughs on the women’s side the past few years, relay-wise, at the NCAAs, and our men’s team has the potential to be special this year.”

Also on Friday, Purdue will swim at Notre Dame in an inter-conference rivalry showdown.

On Friday, Rutgers will travel to East Lansing to face Michigan State. Nebraska will also swim at Iowa State on Friday.

On Saturday, Iowa and South Dakota State will head to Minnesota for a double dual meet.

Rutgers will also move across the state of Michigan after its showdown with the Spartans and face Horizon League power Oakland University on Saturday.
