BEST Swims Well at Arizona Short Course Senior State Championships

PHOENIX, Arizona, April 3. OVER the past weekend, BEST Swim Club put together several strong outings while several of the BEST swimmers won multiple gold medals at the Arizona Short Course Senior State Championships.

BEST's Ashley Evans led all swimmers with five individual gold medals. She earned titles in the 500 free (4:52.42), 1000 free (9:48.88), 1650 free (17:03.63), 100 fly (55.48) and 200 fly (1:58.69).

Three other women claimed multiple titles with BEST's Haley Krakoski, Noriko Inada and Christine Olson each completed a title trifecta.

Krakoski topped the 50 free (23.16), 100 free (50.05) and 200 free (1:47.68), while Inada swept the backstroke events with wins in the 50 (25.25), 100 (53.62) and 200 (1:58.82). Olson walked away with the 100 breast (1:01.69), 200 breast (2:14.89) and 200 IM (2:04.32).

For the men, Darian Townsend, Kohei Kawamoto and Daniel Hatfield each won three titles.

Townsend, representing Tucson Ford, won the 100 free (42.68), 200 free (1:33.48) and 200 IM (1:42.13). Kawamoto claimed the 50 fly (21.32), 100 fly (45.36) and 200 fly (1:42.25), while Hatfield took home the 200 back (1:51.60), 50 breast (26.96) and 400 IM (4:05.32) as both represented BEST.
