Benjamin Proud Breaks Own Commonwealth Record in 50 Free

England’s Benjamin Proud broke the first Commonwealth Games record of the day by taking the top seed in the 50 free in 21.45. He broke his own mark of 21.76 from 2014.
South Africa’s Bradley Tandy took the second seed (21.78), followed by Australia’s Cameron McEvoy (22.06), Australia’s James Roberts (22.11), England’s Thomas Fannon (22.12), Australia’s James Magnussen (22.23), England’s David Cumberlidge (22.25) and New Zealand’s Daniel Hunter (22.32).
