Beijing Working on High Speed Railway

BEIJING, China, December 18. THE infrastructure improvement often found as a good byproduct of hosting an Olympic Games looks to be leading to a high-speed railway in Beijing, according to reports by China Daily.

A railway linking Beijing to Tianjin, "is expected to offer the fastest passenger service in the country, with a maximum speed of 350 kilometers per hour." For those not living on the metric system, that is just more than 215 miles per hour.

The new railway system will look to cut the transportation time by more than half, down to 30 minutes from the previous 70-minute commute.
