NEW COMMIT: Madison, Wis. native Natalie Schick has announced her decision to continue her academic and swimming career at Rutgers University beginning in the fall of 2021.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I am beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Rutgers University! The strong academics combined with such an amazing team makes Rutgers the perfect fit for me. I cant wait to be a scarlet knight!!”

A talented backstroker, Schick swims year-round with Badger Aquatic Club and finished seventh in the 100 back and 17th in the 200 back at the Wisconsin 13&O Championships in March. Last summer, she recorded a best time at Minneapolis Sectionals before going on to race four events at NCSAs.

Her best times include:

  • 100 back – 55.99
  • 200 back – 2:04.19
  • 50 free – 25.14
  • 100 free – 53.40
  • 100 fly – 57.03

Also competing for West High School, Schick is a three-time Wisconsin DI State Championship finalist. She placed ninth in the 100 fly and 11th in the 100 back as a junior while taking 19th in the latter during her sophomore season. She also won gold in the 100 back at the WIAA D1 Sectional meet in 2019.

Schick will add valuable backstroke depth to Rutgers’ lineup when she suits up for the Scarlet Knights as a member of the class of 2025. She will have one year of overlap with Tereza Grusova, who finished second in the 100 back at the 2020 Big Ten Championships.
