Backstroker Josh Wuflestad Gives Verbal Commitment to South Dakota State
NEW COMMIT: Josh Wuflestad, from Chaska, Minnesota, has verbally committed to swim for South Dakota State University beginning in the 2018-2019 season. Wuflestad is a senior at Chaska High School and swims for West Express Swim Team. At the 2017 Minnesota High School AA boys state championship Wuflestad finished 16th in the 100 backstroke.
He is a backstroker. His best times are:
- 200 Back 1:52.97
- 100 Back 51.97
- 50 Back 24.91
He told Swimming World,
“I am proud to announce my verbal commitment to South Dakota State University to further my education and swimming career. Thank you to my family and coaches for your support and direction through the years! Go Jackrabbits!”
At South Dakota State Wuflestad should find himself high on the Jackrabbits’ depth chart. Last year he would have been second among 100 backstrokers, behind sophomore Chase Petersen (51.60). All four men on that list were sophomores, meaning Wuflestad will have a year to train with them. He’d also fall just behind Petersen in the 200 back (1:52.04).
