NEW COMMIT: Allison Knight has verbally committed to swim for Georgia Southern University, beginning next fall. Knight will head south from Charleston, South Carolina. She’s a senior at James Island School and trains with South Carolina Swim Club.

Primarily a backstroker, Knight’s best times include:

  • 50 Back 27.65
  • 100 Back 56.66
  • 200 Back 2:03.83
  • 50 Free 25.11
  • 100 Fly 59.56

Her sophomore year Knight was runner up in the 100 back at the South Carolina 4A High School state championships. As a junior last fall she finished fifth in that event at the 5A meet. At last weekend’s 5A Championships Knight repeated that fifth place performance (57.91). She also touched ninth (55.49) in the 100 free.

At last year’s CCSA Championships Knight would have been a 100 and 200 backstroke B finalist. She’ll overlap for two years with backstrokers Elizabeth Chemey (57.37, 2:05.48) and Anna Moers (55.03).

Knight shared with her announcement on Instagram,

“SUPER DUPER excited & blessed to announce my verbal commitment to the Georgia Southern Swimming and Diving team! Huge thanks to everyone who continued to push me these past year, especially my family, friends & coaches. GO EAGLES”
