B1G Men’s Championship Day 2 Prelims: Michigan, Indiana Take Top Seeds

The B1G men’s championship meet continued with the firs morning session of preliminaries for individual events.

Here is a look at who made Thursday night’s final:

500 freestyle

Michigan freshman Felix Auboeck took the top seed in the 500-yard freestyle, finishing in 4:13.36.

Wisconsin’s Matthew Hutchins took the second spot at 4:14.26 and Indiana’s Marwan El Kamash was third (4:15.00), followed by Ohio State’s Brayden Seal (4:15.11), Indiana’s Jackson Miller (4:15.24), Michigan’s Patrick Ransford (4:15.78), Northwestern’s Jordan Wilimovsky (4:16.30), and Ohio State’s Joseph Long (4:16.67).

Indiana sophomores Vinicius Lanza and Ian Finnerty took the top two seeds in the 200 IM. Lanza finished in 1:43.29 to take the top seed, while Finnerty was second at 1:43.33.

Wisconsin’s Brett Pinfold took third (1:43.76), followed by Michigan’s Jacob Montague (1:44.12), Michigan’s Evan White (1:44.30), Indiana’s Blake Pieroni (1:44.46), Minnesota’s Jakub Maly (1:44.58) and Michigan’s Chris Klein (1:44.65).

Indiana’s Ali Khalafalla took the top seed in the 50 freestyle, swimming it in 19 seconds flat.

Michigan’s Paul Powers took the second seed at 19.26, followed by Minnesota’s Bowen Becker (19.34), Wisconsin’s Cannon Clifton (19.44), Ohio State’s Matt McHugh (19.59) and Mossimo Chavez (19.59), who tied for fifth, Penn State’s Shane Ryan (19.63) and Indiana’s Samuel Lorentz.
