NEW COMMIT: Googong, New South Wales native Abbey Webb has announced her comittment to Auburn University and will arrive on campus this fall.

Webb, who swims year-round with Ginninderra Swim Club under head coach Jim Fowlie, is a member of the Australian National Junior Team and most recently earned a trio of best times at the Hancock Prospecting in April. At the 2018 Junior Pan Pacific Championships in Fiji, she placed fourth in the 100m free, 10th in both the 50m free and 200m free, and was a member of Australia’s second-place 4x100m free and 4x200m free relays. At the Summer Youth Olympic Games this past October, Webb placed fifth in the 100m free and anchored the silver-medal winning 4x100m medley relay.

She told Swimming World:

“Excited to announce my commitment to Auburn University to continue my academics and swimming!! thank you to everyone who helped along the way. war eagle”

In LCM, her best times include:

  • 50m free – 25.63
  • 100m free – 55.32
  • 200m free – 2:00.21
  • 100m fly – 1:00.48
  • 100m back – 1:03.34

In SCY, those times convert to:

  • 50 free – 22.58
  • 100 free – 48.90
  • 200 free – 1:46.88
  • 100 fly – 53.64
  • 100 back – 55.29

Webb will make an immediate impact both individually and on relays when she suits up for the Eagles as a member of the class of 2023 and will have one year of overlap with two-time conference finalist Claire Fisch. Her best times (converted to yards) would’ve scored in the B-final of the 100 free as well as the C-final of the 50/200 free at the 2019 SEC Championships.
