Australian Masters Record Falls

By Graham Senders, Australian Masters Correspondent

PERTH, Australia, April 8. ROD Baker is the first West Australian to break a national Masters record for the year in the 200 backstroke. Baker, 80, from the Mandurah club swam 3:50.01 at the interclub carnival hosted by Melville club on Sunday taking the Australian 80-84 years long course record down by 2.26 seconds.

Melville AUSSI club narrowly held off Somerset AUSSI Masters to win the carnival, as swimmers and officials took a final chance to hone their skills before the FINA World Masters Championships start at Perth's Challenge Stadium in just over a week.
