Auburn Sectional Continues on the Plains in Auburn

AUBURN, Alabama, July 14. THE Auburn Sectional continued with the 400 free, 100 fly and 100 breast held during the third day of long course meter swimming.

Claire Maust dropped a two-and-a-half second victory on Mary DeScenza in the 400 free with a time of 4:14.92 against DeScenza's 4:17.18 to start the night.

Jackson Wilcox followed with a win in a battle between a pair of Volunteer State 17-year-olds. Wilcox, hailing from Nashville, won in 3:58.47 with AJ Tipton, representing Pilot out of Knoxville, taking second in 3:59.14 in the men's 400 free.

Rachel Komisarz paced a trio of women under 1:00 in the 100 fly with a winning time of 58.82. Margaret Hoelzer took second in 59.47, while Christine Magnuson nabbed third in 59.94.

On the men's side, Matt Targett won by more than a second with a time of 53.16 over Peter Verhoef's 54.31 in the 100 fly.

In the 100 breaststroke, 14-year-old Kaylin Burchell dropped three seconds off her prelim time to clock a 1:10.99 for the win. Meanwhile, Andrew Bree snagged the men's breaststroke crown in 1:02.94.
